Building Bilingual Futures: English Program of the Costa Rica Para Los Niños Foundation
At the Costa Rica Para Los Niños Foundation, we believe that education is the most powerful tool to transform lives. That is why we have developed a comprehensive English teaching program for children and young people living in shelters. Our goal is that, by the time they reach the stage of leaving the system, they can graduate fully bilingual, with skills that expand their academic, professional, and personal opportunities.
A bridge to new opportunities
Many of the children and young people who grow up in shelters face significant limitations when they begin their adult lives. The lack of family support, scarce resources, and educational barriers often make it difficult for them to access higher education or well-paid jobs.
Our program aims to change that reality by offering:
• Personalized, dynamic English classes tailored to each participant’s age and level.
• Curricula designed to progress from basic to advanced levels.
• Safe, motivating, and emotionally positive learning environments.
• Mentorship and academic support throughout the entire process.
Stories that inspire
Among our students, we also have a young woman who graduated from the shelter system, who was never adopted and who continues her education with us today. She has found in learning English a tool to forge her own path and build a different future—one full of possibilities that once seemed out of reach.
Her story reminds us why we do what we do: because every child and every young person deserves a fair chance to grow, learn, and dream without limits.
A commitment to their future
Our dream is that every student who goes through our programs can say: “I am prepared. I have the tools. I can succeed.”Learning English is not just acquiring a language; it is accessing a life with more options, more security, and more hope.
At the Costa Rica Para Los Niños Foundation, we will continue working to support them on that path, opening doors and building brighter futures for all.
